Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is a classification of coffee grown in the Blue Mountains in Jamaica. The Blue Mountains are at the eastern end of the island of Jamaica.
At high elevations, Blue Mountain's soil, rainfall, and thick fog combine to create the perfect conditions for growing the world's most famous coffee. Typica arabica is the dominant variety with nearly 90% of the area planted. It is a low yielding variety, but it produces the highest quality by the cup. The best batches of Blue Mountain coffee are renowned for their taste and lack of bitterness.
